# CYBERSECURITY AWARENESS TRAINING REPORT ### **Topic: Cybersecurity Awareness – Common Mistakes Young People Make When Using Their Phones and the Internet** The training was an **interactive cybersecurity awareness class** focused on helping youths and teenagers understand the common mistakes they make when using smartphones, social media, web browsers and online accounts. The session explained how personal information can be exposed through careless use of mobile phones and the internet. Participants were introduced to **browser cookies**, what they are used for, and the difference between **clearing browser history and completely removing online activity**. The training also discussed the risks of saving passwords on other people's devices, using another person's phone to access personal accounts, leaving accounts logged in, and sharing sensitive information such as passwords and OTPs. The participants were also introduced to **social engineering and phishing**, with practical examples of how scammers manipulate people through fake messages, links, account warnings, giveaways and requests for confidential information. Emphasis was placed on the importance of stopping to verify information before clicking links or responding to suspicious requests. Another part of the training introduced the concept of **hacking** and explained the difference between **Black Hat, White Hat and Grey Hat hackers**. Participants learned that ethical hacking involves authorized security testing, while unauthorized access to systems can be illegal regardless of the individual's intentions. The training concluded with practical cybersecurity habits, including using strong and unique passwords, enabling two-factor authentication, avoiding suspicious links and applications, reviewing app permissions, keeping devices updated, securing phones properly, and being careful about what information is shared online. Overall, the training emphasized that **cybersecurity is not only the responsibility of IT professionals; it is everyone's responsibility**. Many cyber incidents can be prevented by simply being more careful, questioning suspicious requests and developing safer digital habits. ### **Key Message** > **Think before you click. Think before you share. Think before you trust. Think before you download.** The aim is to help young people become **more aware, responsible and security-conscious users of technology.**
